Legend to watch: RF Elier Hernandez (6-foot-3, 200 pounds, age 19, bats and throws right, from San Cristobal, Dominican Republic) is 6-for-12 (.500) over his last three games, with a home run among his three hits during Wednesday’s win at Hickory. Over those three games, Hernandez has raised his batting average 57 points to .239. Overall, he is hitting .277 against right-handers, .150 versus lefties. Signed by the Royals as a non-drafted free agent July 2, 2011, Hernandez spent each of his first two pro seasons with Idaho Falls of the Pioneer League. In 2012, he hit .208 with 34 RBI and 30 runs over 60 games. Last year, he improved to .301 with three homers, 44 RBI and 44 runs over 66 games.
